About the role
The Continence Nurse Advisor provides a Nurse Continence Specialist/ Advisory service for men and women over the age of 65 who are referred with continence issues via My Aged Care. It also involves undertaking health promotion, health education, secondary consultation around the health needs of marginalised people.

The role will be performed across Footscray, Kensington and Collingwood.

Your duties include:

  • Provides culturally appropriate continence care that demonstrates respect and understanding of people's culture, beliefs and preferences
  • Facilitates an environment conducive to the development of therapeutic professional relationships to enable a holistic approach
  • Assesses and promotes health literacy to enhance a person's understanding of their continence health so that they can exercise choice and control
  • Demonstrates proficiency in a range of advanced health assessment skills within the scope of practice

Our ideal candidate:

  • Current Registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Post graduate qualification in Continence Nursing
  • Excellent cross cultural communication skills
  • Well-developed knowledge of community health and human rights principles
