About the role

This role sits within the Energy Outreach Program, delivered in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).

You'll support residents living in Melbourne's public housing high-rise towers to access the Power Saving Bonus (PSB) and connect them with further energy affordability support when needed.

This program focuses on reaching culturally diverse communities—including those facing language barriers, limited digital access, or low computer literacy—and helps reduce financial stress from rising energy bills.

Key responsibilities

  • Promote the Power Saving Bonus and cohealth's Energy Program to residents in public housing
  • Use local networks to engage residents and encourage participation
  • Build residents' capacity to complete their own PSB applications where possible
  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to each resident's needs
  • Offer in-language support where applicable or engage interpreters to ensure accessibility

Our ideal candidate

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in one or more of the following areas: community services, social work, community development role, adult education/training, financial counselling/support
  • Speak a language other than English (preference for Arabic, Cantonese, Eritrean, Mandarin, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese)
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Ability to multiple locations across metropolitan Melbourne

Pre-employment requirements

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working with Children Check (WWCC), complete a Pre-Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
