About the role

This position sits in a dynamic primary care clinic, with clear referral pathways to local acute hospitals. It delivers services with Priority of Access to Homeless, Refugees and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Podiatrist is responsible for providing quality community-based Podiatry services. This includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of clients with foot related / lower limb disorders.

The Podiatrist will have the support of a full multidisciplinary team including GPs, Allied Health and Social Workers and will have the capacity to utilise secondary consults and on-referral local acute care Tertiary centres.

Your duties include:

  • Provide high quality Podiatry services to clients and groups of clients in accordance with agreed targets
  • Develop, review, and evaluate Podiatry direct care and health promotion programs using a codesign approach
  • Contribute to and participate in health education and promotion programs aimed at maximising good health and preventing illness
  • Act as an advocate for individual clients/groups of clients as appropriate

Our ideal candidate:

  • Tertiary qualification in Podiatry
  • Registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or eligible to register
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the areas of biomechanical assessment, nail surgery, diabetes assessment and wound management
  • Ability to work effectively across a multi-disciplinary service and with a wide range of diverse client groups, forming collaborative working relationships, as well as an ability to work independently

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Statutory Declaration, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses). Additionally, some roles will also require current AHPRA registration and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
