About the roles

These positions are core to our community dental team which provides a range of evidence-based preventive, restorative and health promoting activities to enhance the oral health of our communities. The roles work in the Smile Squad program and across all cohealth Oral Health clinic locations (Kensington, Niddrie, Footscray) and other outreach locations.

Your duties include:

  • Provide high quality, efficient and effective oral health care within the scope of a community based public dental service
  • Provide oral health assessment and treatment planning, diagnosis of conditions of the oral cavity, intra-oral radiography, and treatment planning
  • Provision of preventive strategies and directions for oral health
  • Provide dental treatment within scope of practice in line with dental treatment plan
  • Dependent on experience and level, mentor junior team members.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Dental qualification as an Oral Health Therapist (Adult scope)
  • APHRA Registration
  • High level of clinical competence and a demonstrated commitment to the provision of appropriate, high quality dental services with a focus on public health principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with people from multicultural, marginalised, and diverse communities
  • Ability to obtain an WWCC
  • Victorian drivers license
  • Fully Vaccinated for COVID

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Statutory Declaration, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses). Additionally, some roles will also require current AHPRA registration and/or NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
